Friends of Egremont - Community Centre

The Friends of Egremont are enthusiastic volunteers from all ages and backgrounds, working together to promote Egremont past and present. We are passionate about breathing new life into Egremont through community events and activities that involve as many local people as possible.

Egremont was once a thriving tourist destination, with a pier, bustling shops and hotels. We aim to help preserve the historical aspects of the area - its stories, memories, music, art, people and the part it played in world events. But we are also initiating new projects that allow local people to get involved in their community and make a positive difference.

Through regular events, meetings, newsletters activities, and education, the Friends of Egremont want to show the changing story of this community, and the way it is evolving.

The Annual Egremont Festival is a highpoint in the Friends' calendar,  giving local people the opportunity to showcase what is happening in and around their community. Different clubs and societies demonstrate, exhibit or display their work, to show what is happening in their community and recruit new members.

The Heart of Egremont is our community centre at 103 Brighton Street
and the base for all our activity. Drop in for a cuppa anytime - the kettle's never cold!
